Del Rio stated that he “sees some of the guys that have been allowed back, and my question is, what’s the difference?”
He felt Aldon had done everything right that he needed to do, and he didn’t see why he wasn’t reinstated, although he did say “it’s not my job to make a ruling.”
With the organization previously stating that they were “not going to bail on Aldon Smith,” Del Rio is now tasked with moving forward without the services of the former All-Pro pass rusher as the team heads to Denver to face the defending Super Bowl champions.
