Jabrill Peppers not playing in Orange Bowl with hamstring injury

Jabrill Peppers

Michigan will be without standout safety Jabrill Peppers for its Orange Bowl matchup against Florida State, as Peppers is dealing with an apparent hamstring injury.

Peppers will be missed on both sides of the ball. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist, mainly because he can do so much outside of being a defender. A dynamic player with the ball in his hands, Peppers can return kickoffs and punts as well as run, catch an throw the ball with no small amount of proficiency.

It’s widely believed that Peppers will leave college after this season to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. Many have hyped the young man’s future in the NFL, but there are some rumblings that he’s not as good as the hype suggests (more on that here).

You can be sure he’ll be careful about finding out where he’s assumed to fall in the draft before making that final determination.

For now, he’ll be missed for at least one night, as Florida State’s offense features one of the best running backs in the nation in Dalvin Cook. Not many defenders can keep up with him in open space. Peppers is one who can.
