Hue Jackson: Robert Griffin III will start season finale barring setback

It looks like Robert Griffin III will get one finally opportunity to prove his worth to the Cleveland Browns beyond the 2016 season. Head coach Hue Jackson indicated that RGIII will start the team’s season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers barring any setbacks.

RGIII suffered a concussion in the team’s first win of the season against the San Diego Chargers this past Saturday. Earlier in the week, it seemed unlikely that he would be able to go. Though, RGIII has since passed through the NFL-mandated concussion protocol.

For his part, RGIII is coming off his best performance of the season. He completed 17-of-25 passes for 164 yards while adding 37 yards on the ground in a 20-17 win over San Diego.

Cleveland is currently battling with the San Francisco 49ers for the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. It’s also slated to take on a Steelers team that will be resting its starters in preparation for the playoffs.

Should the Browns come out on top here and San Francisco lose to Seattle, they will be picking No. 2 overall. That could have an impact on whether Cleveland decides to bring RGIII back or go quarterback at the top of next spring’s draft.
