Browns G Alvin Bailey suspended two games for violating substance abuse policy

The last thing Robert Griffin III and the Cleveland Browns need is less bodies along the offensive line. This has been one of the most underrated aspects of the Browns’ historical struggles this season.

Through 13 games, Browns quarterbacks have been sacked a whopping 48 times. This is obviously one of the primary reasons that the foursome Cleveland has thrown out under center continue to struggle.

Unfortunately for the Browns, they will now be without guard Alvin Bailey for the next two games. The 25-year-old guard was suspended by the NFL on Thursday for allegedly violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

This suspension stems from a September incident that saw Bailey arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (more on that here).

With five starts on the season, Bailey isn’t necessarily an integral part of whatever the Browns are trying to do on offense. But when you have the least-talented team in the entire NFL, any loss hurts.

Cleveland needs to win one of its final three games to avoid becoming just the second team in NFL history to go winless during a 16-game regular season.
