Urban Meyer called for a fake punt deep in his own territory midway through the third quarter of Ohio State’s game against Michigan Saturday.
He chose…poorly.
Punter Cameron Johnston did not get the necessary six-plus yards on 4th-and-6, turning the ball over instead.

The Wolverines took full advantage of this huge blunder and scored a touchdown five plays later to take a 17-7 lead over the Buckeyes.
If Meyer’s gamble had paid off, many would laud him for his gutsy call. But it was a tremendous gamble that deep in his own territory that he’ll lament if Ohio State cannot find a way to overcome the two-score deficit.
