Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered sprained MCL on Sunday

Ryan Fitzpatrick

The New York Jets may be forced to go with Bryce Petty under center next week against the Los Angeles Rams. It’s a decision that could have been made due to the horrendous play from Ryan Fitzpatrick thus far this season.

Though, it now looks to be a decision that might have been made for the Jets.

Fitzpatrick reportedly suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday’s loss against the Miami Dolphins. While the injury isn’t said to be seriously, it could very well impact the Jets’ quarterback decision.

Fitzpatrick threw two more interceptions in Sunday’s loss and has been picked off a league high 13 times on the season. Remember, the veteran was benched earlier in the year in favor of Geno Smith, who promptly tore his ACL in his first start.

At 3-6 on the season, the Jets are completely out of the AFC Playoff picture. It’s in this that the team would be wise to see what it has in Petty and/or Christian Hackenberg. After all, there’s very little reason to believe Fitzpatrick will be back with New York next season.

This is a story to definitely follow over the next few days.
