Report: Rams won’t play Jared Goff until out of playoff contention

The Rams won't consider Tony Romo, just a year after trading up for Jared Goff

In what seems to be a very baffling move considering the level of play shown by Case Keenum, Ian Rapaport has reported that the LA Rams have no intention of playing Jared Goff as things currently sit.

“My understanding of the Rams quarterback situation,” Rapoport said, “is that they’re not going to make a switch — barring some sort of epic collapse by Case Keenum — until they fall out of playoff contention.”

Rapoport appeared on Monday morning’s episode of Good Morning Football with the interesting news.

Jeff Fisher — in contention for the losingest coach in NFL history (more on that here) — has been berated by fans of the fledgling Rams team to unleash the No. 1 overall draft pick in Goff.

While many scouts have had valid concerns regarding Goff’s ability to quickly grasp an NFL playbook, Keenum has been putrid for the 3-5 Rams and is not the future of the franchise.

Despite this, Fisher is notorious for being overly conservative regarding rookie quarterbacks. He seems poised to ride Keenum to a top-10 draft slot next season.
