TCU’s Caylin Moore named Rhodes Scholar finalist

TCU football’s Caylin Moore was named a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Moore, a senior, is one of just 200 students to qualify as a finalist to receive the award, per Ryan Osborne of the Star Telegram, .

Moore is from Carson, California originally. He will find out later this year if he will be selected to receive the award, following an interview process. If Moore wins, he will be offered a scholarship to study for his graduate at Oxford University in England.

Per Osborne, Moore grew up in poverty in Carson, a south suburb of Los Angeles. He has studied at Marist College in New York, the University of Bristol in England and Princeton University in 2015.

He played quarterback at Marist and now is part of the TCU football practice squad.

Moore shared a touching detail about telling his mom he selected as a finalist for the award.

“Where we come from, that’s not even something she would dare dream for her children,” he said. “It was a surreal moment. But also, I knew I had work to do. I needed to make sure I was prepared for the interview and give it my best shot.”

We wish Moore all the best for his upcoming interview when hopefully he will be one of the two chose.

Past winners of this scholarship award include former President Bill Clinton and retired NBA player Bill Bradly.
