NFL fines Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry $24,000 for hit on Aaron Williams

Jarvis Landry

The NFL has issued its punishment on Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry for his crushing hit on Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Landry has been fined more than $24,000.

The hit certainly was viscous. As for whether the fine is too harsh, too lenient, or just right, you can judge for yourself.

News broke earlier on Thursday that as a result of this hit (and other injuries), Williams is considering retirement. Read more about that here.

Regardless of one’s opinion on Landry’s fine, it’s certainly not surprising. The NFL has spent the last several years trying to legislate these hits out of the game. If any action is taken in future seasons, it will likely be to make punishment for these hits more severe.
