Already featuring one of the NFL’s most stagnant offenses, the San Francisco 49ers could be without running back Carlos Hyde Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaking with reporters, Chip Kelly said it would be a “stretch” for Hyde to make it into the game after missing practice Tuesday and Wednesday. He’s calling it a “day-to-day” injury at this time.

“It’s a day-to-day thing,” Kelly said, per Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “But he’s not going to go (Wednesday) and I would imagine if he’s not going to (practice) in the next couple of days, he’s not going to play on Sunday.”

Thankfully, Hyde made it clear the shoulder that is bothering him is going to be a long-term issue.

“It’s definitely not long term, which is good,” he said. “The guy drove me into the ground, and (I) landed on it pretty hard with all that weight,” he said.

Hyde has rushed for 429 yards and six touchdowns thus far in 2016 and has been the only consistent player on San Francisco’s offense. The 49ers have a bye after Week 7, meaning he’ll have plenty of time to heal, especially if he sits out Sunday’s game.

If Hyde cannot go against the Bucs, espect Mike Davis to get the lion’s share of the early-down carries, with Shane Draughn being the primary third-down back.

From a fantasy angle, this likely means you’re not going to want to start anyone on San Francisco’s offense. Davis has been ineffective when given chances to play, averaging just 1.8 yards per carry this year.
