Buccaneers place Charles Sims on injured reserve

Not only will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers be without running back Charles Sims for Monday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, the youngster has now been placed on injured reserve.

Sims suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos back in Week 4, and had not participated in practice during the week.

It’s not yet known what the injury to the knee is, but this is most definitely not good news for Tampa Bay.

With Doug Martin already out due to a hamstring injury, the Buccaneers are going to find themselves behind the proverbial eight-ball here in the short term. Veteran journeyman Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to start Monday night against Carolina.

Sims, 26, recorded nearly 1,100 total yards as Martin’s primary backup last season. He’s the team’s most capable receiving running back, which will obviously hurt Jameis Winston moving forward.
