Richie Incognito: ‘Playoffs or bust’ for the Bills

According to outspoken Buffalo Bills guard Richie Incognito, there are expectations hanging around the team that this season might be different.

The Bills have not been to the playoffs since 1999. However, that is not stopping Incognito from sharing the team’s optimistic mindset heading into the season.

The best Buffalo has finished since losing in the wild card round back in 1999 was second place in the AFC East in 2007 and 2014.

While Incognito’s job is likely safe if the Bills do not achieve playoff status, head coach Rex Ryan’s might not be.

Ryan enters 2016 already on the hot seat and must improve off last year’s third place finish in order to retain his job.

It won’t exactly be an easy task this season. Not only does Buffalo have to go up against a Patriots squad that’s dominated the division, it’s still likely a step behind a New York Jets team that won 10 games last season.

Incognito’s optimism is great. But the Bills have much work ahead considering they are starting out the season without several key contributors, particularly on defense.
