Randy Gregory out of rehab, still suspended three more games

Randy Gregory

Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Randy Gregory is out of rehab and has been reinstated from the team’s reserve/did not report list. After missing Week 1, he is still suspended three more games to fulfill his four-game ban for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

Field Yates of ESPN first reported the news.

The NFL may still issue further discipline that could result in a 10-game suspension after Gregory was reported to have failed a fifth drug test before training camp (more on that here).

Should Gregory’s appeal on the 10-game ban be won, then he’d theoretically , be able to re-join the Cowboys after Week 4.

It remains to be seen if he’d be anywhere close to being in football shape, both mentally and physically, however. The team was concerned earlier this year that Gregory might never play again.

Since failing a drug test at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, Gregory has had trouble staying out of trouble off the field and has not experienced many good times on it.

Highly thought of coming out of Nebraska, his physical tool set had scouts drooling. Hopefully he may yet be able to make good use of his natural abilities in the future.
