San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen has been placed on injured reserve after an MRI confirmed a torn ACL.

Allen is one of the best young receivers in the NFL, but injuries have now derailed two straight seasons for him. Last year he ended up with a lacerated kidney after a hard hit, missing half the season.

Before getting injured on a non-contact play yesterday, Allen had already racked up six catches for 63 yards.

In his four seasons with the Chargers, the receiver has tallied 221 catches for 2,617 yards and 16 touchdowns. Losing him will take a significant toll on San Diego’s offense.

It will now be up to Tyrell Williams, Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Burse to pick up the slack.
