Cam Newton warm up shirt quotes Martin Luther King

Preparing for his Week 3 game against the Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made a statement without saying a word.

Newton’s shirt reads “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” a quote from the great Martin Luther King.

The Panthers and Vikings arrived at Bank of American Stadium Sunday to the sight of police everywhere in what was quite a crazy scene (more on that here).

Protests have broken out the past few days in Charlotte after an African American man, Keith Lamont Scott, was shot and killed by police.

Last week, the news of Terence Crutcher’s death at the hands of police circulated like wildfire as well. Many NFL players have since spoken out against social injustice, and many have joined with Colin Kaepernick to protest police violence and brutality against people of color in America.

Newton has remained somewhat on the sidelines when it comes to speaking out on this topic until recently.

In addition to his heartfelt statement this week, this shirt clearly demonstrates where his heart is at.
