Did Bill O’Brien fall asleep preparing for the Patriots?

Bill O'Brien

The New England Patriots have given the NFL’s other 31 times nightmares for the past two decades. As the most successful organization in pro football, they have likely also forced many a sleepless night for opposing head coaches.

Though, former Pats offensive coordinator and current Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien may have thrown a monkey wrench into this whole narrative.

“We sleep here (NRG Stadium in Houston) instead of at home,” O’Brien quipped Monday when asked how the Texans are preparing for New England, via CBS News in Boston. “Do I look like I’m kidding? Do I look fresh as a daisy right now?”

We’re not too sure how fresh a daisy is supposed to look. But we now know that O’Brien was actually kidding. At least that’s what he told reporters on Tuesday.

“My wife would kill me,” O’Brien responded when asked if he really slept in the office, via Pro Football Talk. “Well, maybe not. She’d probably want me to sleep in the office more.”

At 2-0 on the season, O’Brien and the Texans have an opportunity to make a huge statement against New England on Thursday night.

If that opportunity passes without the team being fully prepared, he’d likely only blame himself. Hence, the likelihood that O’Brien, a former Bill Belichick disciple, actually is sleeping in his offense.
