Bordeaux forward Jérémy Ménez loses ear in friendly

Getting injured in preseason is always a concern for players. What’s worst than an injury that slows your preparation for match fitness? Surely an injury that rips off the top part of your right ear.

That was the unfortunate situation for French club Bordeaux striker Jérémy Ménez, who was playing in his first match since signing from Italian Serie A club Milan.

The incident was purely accidental, caused by the outstretched leg of Lorient midfielder Didier Ndong after an aerial challenge resulted in a tangle on the ground.

“I’m giving (Ménez) my full support over the next few days and hopefully I will see him back soon,” Ndong said, via The Guardian.

We wish Jérémy Ménez a rapid recovery from his surgery.
