Steve Smith Sr. takes offense to NFL Top 100

Steve Smith

Steve Smith Sr. entered the NFL with a chip on his shoulder the size of Mt. McKinley. After 16 seasons in the league, it’s still as big as ever.

The NFL Network, promoting its Top 100 list, wondered if the Baltimore Ravens receiver might make the list next year after missing much of the 2016 campaign with an Achilles injury. The network asked Smith’s teammate, Justin Forsett, how the 37-year-old receiver might make it back onto the list.

Smith was not amused.

Smith has been bullish about his return to action this upcoming season and hasn’t been shy about slamming his detractors, both real or imagined.

He recently said one of his motivations for returning is to get to 1,000 receptions (more on that here). Currently at 961 on his career, that shouldn’t be a problem, provided he can stay on the field.

If Smith does play the entire season, you have to believe he will make it back on the NFL’s Top 100 list. He’s still one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL when healthy. And his motor never stops, which is why he’s so much fun to watch from snap to snap.
