Report: Giants acquire All-Star Eduardo Nunez from the Twins

The San Francisco Giants have gotten into the trade action with less than a week remaining until the non-waiver trade deadline.

The team announced on Twitter that it has acquired All-Star infielder Eduardo Nunez from the Minnesota Twins.

Nunez, 29, was hitting .300 with 12 homers and 47 RBI at the time of the trade. An All-Star this year, Nunez was also leading the American League with 26 steals.

A jack-of-all-trades type, Nunez plays primarily on the left side of the infield at short and third. Though, he can also pitch in at second base and in the outfield.

Minor league starter Adalberto Mejia is reportedly heading back to Minnesota in the trade. The 23-year-old lefty has posted a 7-3 record with a 2.81 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in between Double-A and Triple-A thus far this season.

He’ll likely join Minnesota’s rotation at some point during the year.
