Nets reportedly sign Jeremy Lin to three-year, $36 million deal

The Brooklyn Nets hit free agency during its earliest stages Friday morning, reportedly signing veteran guard Jeremy Lin.

This comes a day after the team released fellow guard Jarrett Jack, creating an opening on the roster for another proven scorer.

Lin, known mostly for his absurd performance with the New York Knicks back in 2011-2012, will reportedly receive a three-year, $36 million contract with the Nets.

Yes folks, Linsanity is back in the Big Apple.

While some might question Brooklyn’s intentions here, it’s important to note that Lin put up a darn good 2015-16 campaign with a surprising Charlotte Hornets squad. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 78 games (13 starts).

Like most of the deals that will be signed in the coming weeks, it’s hard to really gauge the value of this contract. An average of $12 million per seems high for a player of Lin’s ilk.

Though, the market has set itself at a level we’ve never seen before around the NBA world. With the influx of salary cap room for each team and the expectation that the cap itself will go up a great deal in the coming years, $12 million could actually prove to be a bargain moving forward.
