Michael Strahan giving up endorsements for ‘Good Morning America’ job

Former NFL great Michael Strahan landed a dream gig as co-host on ABC’s Good Morning America, but it came with a cost.

According to the New York Post, Strahan had to give up his endorsement deals as part of the deal, among other things.

“Michael’s endorsements are set to expire in the next few months and won’t be renewed,” an ABC representative told the Post. “His clothing line [with J.C. Penney] will continue, and he’s held to the same disclosure standard as anyone else at ABC News. . . . If there is a story we’re reporting that involves a conflict of interest or a perception of conflict, Michael won’t cover it, or it will be disclosed on-air.”

Strahan is making good on his dream of parlaying his NFL career into a successful career in media. After a handful of lesser jobs, including his first as the host of a DIY Network show called Backyard Stadiums, he ended up as the co-host opposite Kelly Ripa on Live! with Kelly and Michael.

Then there is his stellar work as a pre-game NFL co-host.

Now he’s moving up in the world even more. While the endorsement deals he had likely filled his pockets with coin, it stands to reason Strahan could earn plenty more if he continues to shine as a co-host on Good Morning America.
