WWE suspends Roman Reigns for wellness policy violation

The WWE will be without Roman Reigns for the next month, as three-time WWE World Heavyweight champion has been suspended for 30 days.

“WWE has suspended Joe Anoa`i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy,” the WWE said in a press release on their official website.

Reigns addressed the suspension on Twitter.

If nothing else, this sheds some light on what happened during Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Seth Rollins beating Reigns makes sense. Getting the belt off of a guy who’s about to be suspended is an absolute must.

Having Dean Ambrose cash his Money in the Bank briefcase in also adds up. Shifting the story line focus away from Rollins is also necessary.

This is certainly bad news for both Reigns and the WWE. Reigns is one of the company’s biggest names and it will hurt to not have him in story lines for a month. Getting suspended could also have potential ramifications on how marketable he’ll be upon his return, but that remains to be seen.
