Report: Dolphins safety Reshad Jones expected to hold out

Adam Gase’s first offseason as the Miami Dolphins head coach hasn’t necessarily gone too swimmingly. A reported rift between Ndamukong Suh and other members of the team led to some issues early in the spring.

Now comes this report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport indicating that Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones, who missed Miami’s slate of OTAs, will likely be a hold out through at least minicamp.

Jones, 28, recorded 135 tackles, five interceptions, 10 passes defended and two touchdowns during what was a breakout 2015 campaign.

Jones is slated to earn a base salary of $7 million this upcoming season, making him the fourth highest-paid safety in the league. He has two years remaining on his deal. Needless to say, Miami isn’t in a hurry to get a job done here.

Whether Jones’ holdout will last into training camp remains to be seen. But this is definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward.
