Nick Saban on Jim Harbaugh: ‘I don’t really care what he thinks’

Nick Saban

It appears that Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh has found himself a new rival after just one season back in college football.

The always interesting and entertaining Harbaugh sent out a strongly worded tweet on Tuesday suggesting that the University of Alabama football program has engaged in recruiting violations under head coach Nick Saban.

Harbaugh, who has a reputation for saying exactly what he believes and not mincing words, had this to say on that social media platform:

This all stems from Harbaugh’s support of satellite camps as a way to help draw big-name recruits to his program in Ann Arbor.

It also comes after Saban criticized the practice of satellite camps earlier in the week. While the extremely successful Crimson Tide head coach did not call out Harbaugh specifically, it’s important to note that he did bring up the Wolverine head coach in those comments (via Al.com).

Continuing to engage in back-and-forth, Saban again responded to Harbaugh’s claims that Alabama has engaged in recruiting violations in the past.

“I don’t really care what he thinks or tweets,” Saban said, via ESPN. “I say what I think is best for college football and the players.”

Just chalk this up to Harbaugh attempting to find a rivalry with another top program around the nation. It seems that his fire burns the best when he has this extra incentive.

On a larger scale, the issue of satellite camps in the college football world won’t be dying any time soon. Depending on where you land in that debate, you either support Harbaugh or Saban here.

Unfortunately for those of us who love this drama, Michigan and Alabama are not slated to meet this season.

Though, there’s a chance that could happen in the College Football Playoff. What a wonderful time that would be.
