Report: Nelson Agholor sexual assault case turned over to District Attorney

A police investigation into the alleged sexual assault by Philadelphia Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor at a strip club has concluded and is now with the District Attorney’s office, Philadelphia Magazine is reporting.

There were conflicting stories between Agholor’s accuser, a dancer at Cheerleaders in Philadelphia, and others who said the accusation was the result of a dispute over money.

As more information became available after the initial accusation, several dancers were reported to have corroborated the financial dispute angle. Teammates Connor Barwin and Fletcher Cox were at the club with Agholor but gave statements saying they were already gone when the alleged incident took place.

Now Philly District Attorney Seth Williams will review all the evidence that has been gathered to determine whether or not to press any charges against Agholor. Williams was faced with another difficult situation when former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was in an altercation with off-duty police officers at a bar, ultimately opting to not press charges in that case.

Agholor’s lawyer, Fortunato Perri Jr., called the situation “difficult” and has maintained that his client did not commit a crime.

“We’ve been in touch with the investigators, but I can’t comment on the progress of the investigation,” Perri said. “It’s always difficult when something like this happens. [Agholor] has been staying close with his family and doing the best he possibly can.”

The Eagles have predictably made no statements about the matter other than to publicly acknowledge that they are aware of the charges.

Agholor, at the age of 23, is set to play his second season with the Eagles after being drafted in the first round last year.
