Michael Crabtree: Derek Carr is ‘gunslinger, Brett Farve-type of quarterback’

Derek Carr

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree has only one season with Derek Carr under his belt. But he already has some fantastic things to share about his quarterback, including a comparison to the legendary Brett Favre.

“The guy is amazing. He’s got talent, Crabtree said, via Scott Bair of csnbayarea.com.” “We talk all the time on ways to get better on the field and I feel like he has taken that step, taken control of the offense, doing more managing of the game at the end and the beginning.”

“I feel like that gunslinger, he is always going to be a gunslinger and I love that. That’s the old Brett Favre-type of quarterback, but really managing Brett Favre.”

Wow. That is quite the admirable praise considering Carr is only entering his third year in the league. Though, Carr notably deserves a shout-out after far surpassing his rookie season accomplishments in a big way last season. Carr helped lead the Raiders to seven wins while he completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions.

Crabtree thrived while working with Carr in 2015. He recorded the second-most yards (922) in his seven-year NFL career and tied his career-high nine touchdown season from 2012.

After never really meshing with Colin Kaepernick in 2013 and 2014, Crabtree can certainly thank Carr for reviving his career.

In fact, this pretty much sums up Crabtree’s admiration for his beloved quarterback.

“The quarterback runs the team. If I had to pick any guy, it would be Derek Carr. I’m just ready to go out there and show the world (what we can do).”

The Raiders are definitely on the rise after winning more games than they have since 2011 when Carson Palmer was under center.

It should be exciting to continue following Carr, Crabtree and Co. in the AFC West — a division that could be more easily up for grabs this in 2016.
