Report: ‘Space Jam’ sequel to star LeBron James

LeBron James

The original “Space Jam” is one of those movies that most of us who grew up during that era point to as one of the greatest spectacles in movie-making history.

Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny. Really, what could have gone wrong with that pairing?

Now, 20 years after the release of that blockbuster film, it’s being reported that two-time NBA champion LeBron James will star in the sequel. The movie will also be directed by Justin Lin of “Fast & Furious” and “Star Trek” fame (via The Hollywood Reporter).

This is some Grade-A stuff right here. Blending Lin’s movie-making ability with the top stars the NBA has to offer is going to be tremendous.

All this comes on the heels of James’ production company, SpringHill Entertainment, announcing a partnership with Warner Bros. last July. At that point, it was not yet known what the project would entail.

James had this to say in making that announcement:

“To be able to partner with Warner Bros. will allow me to do some things I’ve always dreamed of.”

This also comes after Warner Bros. itself filed new trademarks for “Space Jam” back in June of 2015.

The excitement is real here now that this entire project is coming to fruition.

What remains to be seen is who’s going to join James in the movie. Stephen Curry, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade all have to be logical choices to join the cast.
