Report: Andrew Luck ‘healthy and ready to go’ for Colts OTAs

Andrew Luck

After a miserable, injury-dominated 2015 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts, franchise quarterback Andrew Luck is fully healthy in time for the team’s OTAs, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

After his forgettable lost season, hopefully the fifth-year quarterback can simply get back to throwing touchdowns at a prolific pace, as he did in the 2014 season (40 touchdowns).

Luck also has a huge contract extension to look forward to signing, in addition to his rediscovered good health. Colts owner Jim Irsay recently said the new deal they’d be signing would be “a shocking number” and more recently it was reported that he’ll be the highest-paid player in the NFL.

One of the things the Colts want to see out of Luck as he continued to develop as an NFL passer is better judgement when it comes to taking big hits. He unnecessarily allows himself to take them at times when trying to extend plays, with head coach Chuck Pagano recently saying his quarterback plays like a linebacker.

However, his offensive coaches do not want him to change too much. They understand he has a certain mentality and that it’s what helps him make plays many other quarterbacks couldn’t dream of making.

If the Colts can keep Luck healthy throughout the 2016 NFL season, he’ll take them to the playoffs like he’s done in his first three years before last year’s disaster.
