Michael Bennett obliterates Sam Bradford for complaining about Carson Wentz

Michael Bennett

Leave it to Michael Bennett to completely ridicule Sam Bradford’s recent tantrum with the Philadelphia Eagles after the franchise drafted Carson Wentz No. 2 overall.

Speaking on ESPN 710’s “Brock and Salt” show Tuesday, he absolutely ripped Bradford for “complaining” about having to compete for a job, via Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com:

“I listened to Sam Bradford again. I just almost threw up. I can’t believe Sam Bradford is complaining about making $40 million in the next two years, and because he actually has to compete for a position. This guy… this guy right here definitely sets a bad tone of what a player should be.”

Never one to sugar-coat how he feels, Bennett then delved into how he’d feel if he were Bradford’s teammate:

“If I was his teammate, how can you play with a guy that doesn’t want to compete at a high level and feels like his position should be solidified without even putting up the stats or the wins to back that up?”

Indeed, one can imagine most players — if not all of them — share these sentiments.

Bradford signed a two-year contract with the Eagles back on March 1. It was understood that he’d be the team’s starter heading into April, even though the Eagles also laid down a pretty penny for backup Chase Daniel not long after.

Then, of course, Philly gave up the farm to move up from No. 8 to No. 2, and everyone knew they’d draft either Wentz or Jared Goff with that pick. When they actually did select Wentz, as we know, Bradford got fussy about it and even demanded a trade. When no teams were really that interested, it was clear he was stuck with the Eagles.

Even now, he’s back with the team and is the clear No. 1 for this year.

The thing about all this is, Bradford had to know, based on the Eagles giving him a two-year deal with most of the guaranteed money coming in 2016, he wasn’t long-term answer.

He knows for sure now, and it’s hard to imagine he’ll get a ton of respect from his teammates in Philly’s locker room, based on his actions. One thing’s certain: Bradford must be glad Bennett isn’t one of them.
