Since seeing his mother lose her battle with breast cancer back in May of 2014, the fight to help other women overcome the dreadful disease has been near and dear to DeAngelo Williams’ heart.

The former Carolina Panthers and current Pittsburgh Steelers running back has made it a point to show his support for those impacted by the disease when taking to the field over the past two years.

And while the NFL has taken exception to Williams’ efforts in the past, he continues to prove that a person with a huge platform and the assets to help can make a world of difference.

That’s going to continue this upcoming weekend in Charlotte, where Williams will be offering up free mammograms to North Carolina women (via the Charlotte Observer).

Through his Charlotte Knights foundation, Williams will be providing free screenings for “low-income, under-insured or uninsured women in the area.”

As an incentive for women to show up, Williams will offer free swag bags to the first 53 that decide to get screened for breast cancer. He’s also partnered with Lyft to provide rides to an from the location.

This is yet another cool story of a NFL player doing some tremendous off-field work within the community.
