While he has yet to hear his name called at the podium in Chicago as the No. 1 pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff is reportedly headed to the Los Angeles Rams. Per Michael Silver of NFL Network, he’ll wear No. 16, just as he did in college at Cal.

Goff is a huge Joe Montana fan and has been for a long time. Now he’ll have the opportunity to try and achieve the same kind of success and notoriety as his idol did during his Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers.

It won’t be easy, though.

The Rams play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. The NFC West is loaded with three other teams that feature defenses known for shutting opponents down. Los Angeles also features one of the worst receiving corps in the league.

Goff does have a few things going for him, though. He already has an elite running back behind him in Todd Gurley and an offensive line capable of protecting him from harm.

He also has the experience of playing on a losing team at Cal and working through the difficult times to build a winner. He’s the toughest quarterback in the draft and won’t get rattled under pressure.

He’s cool like that, just like Joe Cool.

He’s also really, really good.
