With the first-two picks of the 2016 NFL draft having already been swapped out, the San Diego Chargers selection at No. 3 overall becomes that much more important.
Could San Diego look to acquire more assets by trading down from that third spot in lieu of adding an elite-level talent?
Reporting from the Chargers’ headquarters in San Diego, NFL Network’s Alex Flanagan suggested just this on Saturday:
"The San Diego @Chargers could likely trade out of the #3 overall pick." https://t.co/zCCmULMhvZ

While Chargers general manager Tom Telesco has indicated that calls regarding the pick have slowed since Philadelphia moved up, there’s a scenario in play here that could lead to another team finding Paxton Lynch worthy of a move up to three.
If not the former Memphis quarterback, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil could be considered a valuable option with the third pick.
What we do know is that this year’s version of the draft is much more fluid than in the past. With the top-two picks having already been moved and two players likely slotted into those spots, the third pick is what everyone is talking about leading up to Thursday.
Whether it’s a team like the New York Jets looking to move up for a quarterback or another squad finding Ohio State product Ezekiel Elliott worthy of a top-five selection, there promises to be some activity near the top of the draft when things get going next week.
