LeBron James passes Dominique Wilkins on all-time scoring list

Still just 31 years old, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is moving his way up a bunch of all-time NBA lists.

Following a 24-point performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, King James now stands alone at 12th place on the all-time scoring list, surpassing the great Dominique Wilkins.

That’s an amazing accomplishment in and of itself, especially considering Wilkins averaged 24.8 points per game and played until he was 38 years old. At this rate, James will surpass the Association’s all-time leading scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, if he plays until his 38th birthday.

Next up on the list for James is Oscar Robertson, who the forward can pass should he scored 21-plus points against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. In order for James to crack the top 10 prior to the end of the regular season, he’d have to average nearly 40 points from here on out.

While that’s obviously an unlikely scenario, there’s a solid chance James will end up passing Shaquille O’Neal for seventh on the all-time list sometime next season.
