Report: Julius Randle fined $15,000 for ‘obscene gesture’

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle made headlines after hitting a game-winning shot in overtime against the Miami Heat. Unfortunately it wasn’t just the big shot that made those headlines.

With a few movements of his hands in strategic places, he let the world know what he thinks of a certain anatomical part.

Apparently that didn’t sit well with the Association.

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports Randle is being fined $15,000 for his “obscene gesture,” as termed by the NBA.

In his second year out of Kentucky, Randle has earned some significant playing time after being utilized sparingly in his first campaign. He’s averaging 11.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for the Lakers, playing just over 28 minutes per contest.

As promising as his young career might be Randle hasn’t had many signature moments, but his game-winner against Miami can definitely be considered one.

Perhaps next time Randle can act like he’s been there before, though it’s hard to fault the 21-year-old big man for getting hyped for hitting the game-winner over Dwyane Wade after a year full of frustration.

The Lakers, with a record of 16-59, haven’t had much reason to celebrate. Though, perhaps they will in the future if Randle continues developing.
