Cam Newton ‘looking for revenge’ in season opener against the Broncos

The NFL knew full well what it was doing by scheduling the Carolina Panthers to go into Denver and take on the Broncos in the first game of the 2016 regular season.

Among the very best games on the slate, this Week 1 affair will pit the two defending conference champions against one another in a rematch of Super Bowl 50 this past February.

That game saw league MVP Cam Newton complete just 18-of-45 passes without a touchdown and a total of three turnovers. For his part, Newton caused a bit of a firestorm in his post-game press conference.

Now, over two months removed from that disastrous 24-10 loss, Newton knows full well that he will have an opportunity to avenge said defeat:

For those of you not good at that social media lingo. He’s looking for revenge on September 8th, when Carolina goes into Denver for the season opener.

This is all in good fun. Miller and Newton don’t have a spat going on in public. It’s good old-fashion trash-talking at its best.

Though, defeating Denver in a September football game wouldn’t necessarily equate to revenge for losing the Super Bowl.

But that’s a story for another time.
