The whole idea of former first-round pick Anthony Davis returning to the San Francisco 49ers after a year hiatus has to be thrown out the window following Davis’ comments on Twitter leading up to the 2016 NFL draft.
Davis, an enigmatic figure in San Francisco throughout his largely successful five-year career, had this to share on the social media site on Wednesday:

In a vacuum, this tweet is absolutely ridiculous. If Davis were to return to San Francisco, he’d give the team one of the best tackle tandems in the NFL with Joe Staley manning the left side and himself returning as the starting right tackle.
The issue? Davis apparently doesn’t want to return to San Francisco:

Um. Didn’t Davis quit on his team last year? That’s a very odd statement for the offensive tackle to make.
Either way, this comes on the heels of Davis sending out a tweet earlier this offseason indicating that 49ers general manager Trent Baalke was giving him a headache.
Linked to both Laremy Tunsil and Ronnie Stanley with the seventh pick, San Francisco obviously isn’t relying on Davis at this point. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that San Francisco is going to have a heck of a time finding a trade partner that will give it value in any potential Davis deal.
He clearly doesn’t want to be in San Francisco. But a question remains regarding Davis’ overall commitment to the game of football.
