Report: Indiana Pacers and Ty Lawson in ‘serious talks’

Ty Lawson

The Indiana Pacers currently find themselves as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference after struggling through the past couple months.

Starting the season with 12 wins in their first 17 games, the Pacers have played sub .500 basketball since.

One of the primary issues here has been the point guard position. Starter George Hill has struggled shooting the ball (44 percent from the field this season) and reserve Rodney Stuckey is just now working himself back into basketball shape after missing 17 games earlier in the year.

So it stands to reason that the Pacers would have interest in Ty Lawson, who had his contract bought out by the Houston Rockets earlier this week.

Yahoo Sports is now reporting that the two sides are engaged in “serious” talks to bring Lawson to Indiana for the remainder of the season.

Lawson, 28, was an downright failure during his brief stint with the Rockets. He averaged just 5.8 points while shooting 39 percent from the field after being acquired from the Denver Nuggets last July.

Though, it’s important to note that the enigmatic guard has been largely successful during his seven-year NBA career. He tallied 15-plus points per game in each of his last four seasons in Denver, putting up 15.2 points and a career-best 9.6 assists last season.
