Report: Browns will ‘definitely not waive Johnny Manziel’ today

Johnny Manziel

What the what? Johnny Manziel will remain on the Cleveland Browns roster for at least another day.

In what has been reportedly a day of hemming and hawing by the team’s front office (read about that here), Cleveland will reportedly, unfathomably, keep Manziel on the roster through Wednesday night, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

Back when Manziel’s domestic violence case broke at the end of January, the Browns issued a statement in which team executive vice president Sashi Brown laid into Manziel and said the team would address his behavior “when permitted by league rules.”

At the time, all reports coming out of Cleveland were unanimous in saying the Browns would cut Manziel on the first day of the league year, which is today, Wednesday, March 9.

Yet Cleveland will hang onto the quarterback at least another day, perhaps desperately clinging to the notion that somehow a team would be interested in trading for the troubled Manziel.

It’s not happening, though. Manziel seemingly hasn’t stopped partying for one second the past month or so and was seen early this morning exiting a bar in Hollywood at around 2 a.m.

The coming days should give us more answers to this perplexing situation.
