Navy Football got surprise visit from Ray Lewis

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis visited Annapolis Wednesday and ended up giving a motivational speech to the Navy Football team.

Nobody’s sure how it happened or what caused Lewis to show up there in the first place, but head coach Ken Niumatolo told Bill Wagner of the Capital Gazette said Lewis was “a very inspirational speaker.”

It’s almost as if Lewis arrived on a chariot of fire and dropped some holy ghost on the program, the way Wagner tells it.

Lewis was a fiery player during his playing days at the University of Miami and with the Ravens in the NFL. He was also known to generate significant amounts of emotion during his locker room speeches, and one can imagine he riled up the Midshipmen pretty good Wednesday.

It’s hard to imagine the fire he lit will be able to continue burning throughout the dog days of summer and into the 2016 college football season for Navy. That said, Wednesday’s impromptu visit from Lewis must have been pretty special for the players and coaches attending.
