Report: Two people fired for leaking Jason Pierre-Paul information

The fallout from Jason Pierre-Paul’s accident that led to his finger being amputated continues.

According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, Jackson Memorial Hospital has fired two people that inappropriately accessed JPP’s medical records. The official statement from the hospital (per Raanan) read as follows.

“During the investigation of a breach that occurred in July 2015, Jackson Health System became a party to related litigation. It is our policy that we do not comment during pending litigation. That litigation has now been settled. As part of our investigation into the breach, it was discovered that two employees inappropriately accessed the patient’s health record. That finding resulted in the termination of both employees. Protecting the privacy of our patients is a top priority at Jackson Health System. Any time we have allegations of a breach, we immediately and thoroughly investigate.”

This issue was brought to light over the summer, when ESPN’s Adam Schefter sent out a tweet of Pierre-Paul’s medical chart.

Schefter defended his actions afterwards, saying he was just “doing my job.”

Unfortunately, just doing his job cost two people their jobs. Hopefully they got something out of the deal.
