According to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Seattle Seahawks plan to let Marshawn Lynch keep his $5 million signing bonus from the two-year deal he signed March 2015.
Rapoport reported “both sides seem pleased” with Lynch’s decision to retire and plan to move on. Lynch essentially announced his retirement when he posted this tweet of his lime-green cleats hanging during Super Bowl 50.

Lynch had contemplated retiring after the 2014 season but instead signed a two-year extension that would have kept him with the Seahawks through 2017. Unfortunately, Beast Mode battled through his worst season yet in Seattle when an abdominal injury sidelined him much of the season.
With a Super Bowl ring, another NFC Championship and his health back intact, many would agree that Lynch is making a sensible career decision.
Lynch produced no less than 1,416 total yards and 12 touchdowns in each season between 2011 and 2014. It is good to see that after all Lynch has contributed to the Seahawks, both parties are parting on peaceful terms.
