Did Jim Harbaugh take subtle shot at Jim Tomsula?

Jim Harbaugh hired former 49ers executive Tom Gamble, according to a report

Jim Harbaugh is a master wordsmith. He’s becoming one of the savviest follows on sports Twitter these days, and he never seems to miss an opportunity to say things without saying things.

In an interview with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press Friday, Harbaugh was asked if he takes any satisfaction from how things turned out for his former team, the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.

His response was interesting, which we’ve grown to expect:

“It was just (focused) on our business,” Harbaugh said of his attention this past season, per Birkett. “I wasn’t looking through the keyhole or under the door jam, I was concentrating on what we were doing in Ann Arbor.”

If you watch the video, Harbaugh sort of pauses after saying he was focused on Michigan. Then the next line — “I wasn’t looking through the keyhole or under the door jam” — is like a knife in the dark as he seems to take a shot at Jim Tomsula, who is rumored to have stabbed Harbaugh in the back to land the head coaching job himself.

Maybe Harbaugh thinks Tomsula named names. It seems like he’s still as ticked off as ever about the way things ended in San Francisco.

Thankfully, the burgeoning legend landed on his feet again. His first year at Michigan was tremendous, as he squeezed every last drop of talent out of his players towards an impressive 10-3 record and a victory in the Citrus Bowl.

Then Harbaugh went out and dominated in recruiting, hauling in the No. 4 class in the nation, per Rivals. Yeah, he’s doing just fine, thank you. Tomsula? Not so much, minus the cold hard cash pocketed on his way out the door after a dismal 5-11 season.
