WATCH: Richard Sherman plays wide receiver and fails miserably

Richard Sherman

When given a shot to line up as wide receiver for Team Irvin at the Pro Bowl, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman failed miserably.

Sherman took a reverse from Teddy Bridgewater, easy, breezy. However, facing immediate trouble to get open, Sherman zig-zagged, eventually going backwards for a net loss of 22 yards. Making the tackle to knock Sherman out of bounds was none other than teammate Bobby Wagner.

This wasn’t the only instance in the Pro Bowl that Sherman was owned by one of his own. Earlier in the game, he failed to disrupt a catch made by rookie receiver Tyler Lockett on a fake punt by Johnny Hekker.

Clearly, the spirit of the Pro Bowl is to let loose, have some fun and let the players experiment with different positions. Since Sherman played three years as wide receiver at Stanford, this was the perfect opportunity for the lanky corner to show off.

Though, after watching Sherman in action, let’s just say he ought to stick with his day job moving forward.
