Robert Griffin III cleans out locker but leaves interesting note

Robert Griffin III is presumably on his way out of Washington, and the beleaguered quarterback left one thing in the locker room. And it probably wasn’t an accident.

ESPN’s John Keim shared a picture of a note still hanging in Griffin’s space.

The quote is something Mother Teresa once said about living a life based not on what makes it easier for you or pleases everyone else, rather what is a product of belief in God.

“People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway.”

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport said Washington will release RGIII, whose tenure with the team started with a playoff appearance and ended with him as a postseason inactive. Kirk Cousins is considered the franchise quarterback, and Griffin’s presence is simply a distraction.

Put simply, Griffin didn’t fit what Jay Gruden wanted to do with the offense. Both the organization and Griffin are better off parting ways. but that doesn’t mean he’s a lost cause or a bust. Porous offensive lines rattled his confidence, and injuries derailed Griffin’s availability.

Getting released from Washington will allow the 25-year-old quarterback to find a new home — the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are possible landing spots — and have a chance to return to his previous form.

After all, we’ve already forgotten the good Griffin did in 2012. He’s carried on anyway.
