Chip Kelly hire prompts 49ers store to pull Colin Kaepernick jerseys out of clearance

As if we needed any further proof that Colin Kaepernick’s time with the San Francisco 49ers is not at and end in the wake of the Chip Kelly hire, the 49ers store online has taken the quarterback’s jersey out of clearance.

Of course, this could simply be a clever marketing ploy because of all the speculation that Kelly loves Kap and that the two of them will make sweet music together. No good business misses out on an opportunity to make a quick buck.

That said, there is probably some fire behind this smoke.

Kelly is reportedly enamored with Kaepernick and was planning to try and swing a deal to land him wherever he ended up before being hired by the 49ers on Thursday.

Now he doesn’t need to make a move. The only thing left to do is meet up with the quarterback and talk shop, and it’s hard to fathom Kaepernick saying “no” to running a mobile quarterback-friendly system like the one Kelly employs.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Kap’s jersey ends up selling like hot cakes this winter.

He’s been holed up out of sight for a while after a miserable campaign, but after half a year out of action and another extended break recovering from multiple surgeries he should be raring to go in 2016.
