Steelers’ Mike Tomlin says next game is about ‘getting the stench off us’

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming from a very stinky game that had them losing to the Baltimore Ravens and fourth-string quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Prior to last Sunday’s game, Pittsburgh was cruising towards the playoffs. A loss to a beat up Ravens team was the last thing many thought would have happened, considering the Steelers red-hot scoring offense.

With the Steelers facing a must-win scenario against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, head coach Mike Tomlin shared the mindset of the team, via NFL.com.

“Our ills from last week need to be rectified and rectified quickly. We have to bounce back like championship caliber teams do,” adding that Sunday’s tilt with the Browns is about “getting the stench off us.”

Fortunately for the Steelers, the odds of them beating the Browns would seem to be in their favor. Pittsburgh has played Cleveland in Week 17 five times in the past seven seasons and has won each time.

Though, the Steelers will need to show up with their A-game, rather than the failing version they brought against the Ravens last week in order to prevent another upset.

With a win and a New York Jets loss, Pittsburgh will redeem itself and indeed proceed stench-free into the Wild-Card playoffs.
