Jason Kidd to undergo hip surgery, out indefinitely

The Milwaukee Bucks really are trying their hardest to channel their inner Golden State Warriors.

Bucks head coach Jason Kidd indicated after the team’s win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday that he will be out indefinitely and is going to undergo right hip surgery on Monday:

ESPN’s Mark Stein went on to report that the early estimation for Kidd’s absence is expected to be four-to-six weeks. The issue that’s leading to surgery in New York seems to date back to Kidd’s playing days with the Dallas Mavericks.

Following their win on Sunday, the Bucks find themselves at 11-18 on the season, including a win against the one-loss Warriors earlier this month.

As the “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” reported Sunday evening, assistant Joe Prunty will take over while Kidd recovers.

Prunty joined Kidd’s initial coaching staff in Milwaukee last season and has manned a NBA bench as an assistant since a four-year stint with the San Antonio Spurs from 2002-05.
