Derrick Rose after Bulls win: ‘I see two of you’

Although the Chicago Bulls edged the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 97-95 thriller, Derrick Rose didn’t have a perfect view of the action despite being right in the middle of it.

Following the win, the former MVP point guard told reporters that blinking would not temporarily restore clear vision. Per ESPN’s Nick Friedell, Rose said:

“I wish it was a blink, but it’s all the time. Like right now, I see two of you.”

That probably explains a lot.

Rose played 32 minutes and finished 8-of-22 from the field, missing 80 percent of his shots outside the lane and a total of 10 inside the paint. If Rose was seeing two of people after the game, it’s reasonable to wonder if the Bulls guard needed to decide which rim was real.

However, Rose—who is recovering from a fractured left orbital bone—said he had a simple fix for focusing.

“When I’m out there playing, I’m only using one of my eyes. I close my left eye whenever I’m out there. So I just got used to it from practice.”

He isn’t exactly an efficient shooter anyway but only using one eye affects depth perception. At least Rose wasn’t constantly launching from outside 12 feet like he did last season, because Rose’s already-mediocre night absolutely would’ve been even more.

Chicago battles the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night, and Rose will put together a so-so, one-eyed performance once again.
