Bills’ Sammy Watkins, LeSean McCoy both out in Week 4 vs. Giants

Sammy Watkins

The Buffalo Bills will be without their top two playmakers this Sunday when they take on the New York Giants, as both Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy have been downgraded from “questionable” to “out.”

When asked about his two stars, Rex Ryan wasn’t happy to break the news.

This will certainly test signal-caller Tyrod Taylor, who has been one of the biggest surprises of the new season. Taylor has been rolling of late, completing 74.4 percent of his passes for 714 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Bills already have a built-in contingency plan for the loss of McCoy who hasn’t played well to begin with as he tries to shake a hamstring injury. Rookie Karlos Williams has been tearing it up, averaging 7.8 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns on the ground.

Losing Watkins, however, is a huge blow.

Even when he’s not making amazing touchdown catches, his ability to burn teams over the top demands that defenses double-team him, leaving room for the rest of Buffalo’s receivers to make plays underneath that coverage.

The Bills are hosting the Giants in Week 4, so at least the home crowd will be on hand to give support to this ailing offense.
