Three NFL teams that should consider signing Tim Tebow

The Houston Texans

The Texans are down to two healthy quarterbacks after third-stringer Tom Savage sustained a severe shoulder sprain in the team’s fourth preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Therefore, the Texans could potentially benefit in signing a mobile, healthy Tebow to the team.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are contemplating signing another quarterback to the practice squad or their active roster due to Savage’s current injury status.

“It’s a discussion that we’re having, whether to go out and possibly get a third quarterback or maybe have a quarterback on the practice squad, something like that,” coach Bill O’Brien said. “We haven’t made a final decision on that.”

Although Savage’s injury won’t require surgery, O’Brien indicated that the former fourth-round pick by Pittsburgh could miss substantial time. This leaves the team with only an injury-prone Brian Hoyer, who has been penciled in as Texans starter, and Ryan Mallett, whose performances were not exactly eye-opening during the preseason.

Tebow is about as durable as it gets when it comes to taking hits. Plus, he was quite impressive in his final two preseason games with Philly where he completed 13 of 19 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he only threw one pick during the entire preseason.

Let’s just say that the Texans would be no worse off with Tebow in town. If Tebow was signed to Houston, he certainly would arrive with many fans already in hand.
